Day 5

The day began with Ken letting us ask anything, but people was still asleep or something, because there where only a few questions. After that we saw a video on how education haven’t change much. There is always a teacher and a group of students, students show a better performance by having a teacher rather than a tv or radio speaking.

Here is a video about it:

Later that day Diego Zavala came to explain us how to make a video, but instead of showing us how to use a program for editing he show us that nowadays it’s more important to show people how to tell a story rather than how to edit it in a program.

He showed us some videos and told us that a video can be simply made by using pictures and narrating a story or having a short animation.

Later that day we had an online talk with  Rebecca Hogue and Helen DeWaard about what we talk about in our blogs, and what consequences this can have on our digital identity. They mention in the beggining a lot about ciberbullying and that we should not react to it if we are victims, because if trolls see a reaction, they’ll continue, but if you dont do nothing they gain nothing, it becomes boring fast for them.

Here’s the full talk:

Day 4

Today we started the course by reading other’s blogs, some where really cool with a great disingh, like the yellow duck, and others where kinda not related to what most is writting. I guess they took the no rules thing seriously.

After that Ken told us look some tools to learn more about. In the bening i was looking at the story of the gifs and how a big part was lost due to some galery website going down, but latter Ken show us some cool information about our browsers.

Google chrome as almost every browser is capable of saving your passwords, but this is not the safest way of saving passwords, so you can manage wich passwords chrome saves and wichones don’t. I personally don’t save passwords in my browser, but it is a cool tool to see what is already saved there. You just go to settings then advanced configuration and there is a section of passwords and formularies.

Later thar day we have the video talk with Maha Bali:

we talked about give your face to the internet in photos or videos, in photos you just have to be aware of what are you posting, and in videos as you most likely trying to send a message, you try to make a perfect video, but if it is something spontaneous there is room for mistakes, no problem with that at all, as long as we are confortable with the content we publish.

Maha mention a lot of interesting stuff about our internet presence, she said that having a public presence is important. However, having a private presence is as important, like connecting with your friends privately through facebook or twitter or whatever you use.

We asked some questions and the most interesting thing was how intereactions with people infront of you and people on the internet are different, but they are all human beings, and deserve a certain amount of attention.

Day 3

Today we talked about the type of users if we are visitors or residents, if it is personal or proffecional. Here is a video that explains it well.

We learned that the visitors are the people that only watch and consume the content that the residents produce.

After the brief explanation by ken we had a video link with Autumm Caines, Bonnie Stewart and Sundie Richards. #TechnoKen

They initially talked about what makes us residents or visitors, with come examples, like youtube. Sundie mention that being personal can lead to having nice conversation with people, and then they proceed to show us a way to graph our activity on the internet.

Here is a picture of mine:

Day 2

We went out to take some pictures that reflect ourselfs or our experience during iTec.IMG_20160927_084959.jpg

All the photos have some words we took from magazines and newspapers, like in this picture, you can even see what the other guy picture looks like.

Here are some other pictures I took:

Business as something you do everyday, no matter how small it is.

This balloons picture, kinda ironic since the day is rainy and evrything looks a bit grey, and next to it the cafeteria with a self explanatory text.

After a break, the video link started, and we talk with Laura Gogia y Lee Skallerup.

Tuesday Guest Speaker Video Links and Bios

We talked about things that people post on the internet, and that we should put things that we consider important for our blogs. Lee also said that people can have the skill of connecting people, and she does it by following a lot of people and talking about a lot of things, so at some point people is gonna met again.
Later we talk to Amy Burvall and Alan Levine.
Alan talked about how a blog can funtion as a place where you put your thoughts and you can revisite it to remember what you where doing at a certain time.
Amy mention that it is important to tag your work properly to get the desired attention, so it does not get lost in the fog. Also it is not nescesary to aim at a certain public, because when it is out there it can be seen by anyone.
At the end of the video link they talked about catfishing and how it can affect people that fall fot it. It is important to pay attention to things and be able to identify this people, who is real and who is not.

Day 1

Today we had a video link with Dave Cormier, an educational researcher and speaker on Open Learning, MOOCs and the impact of technology on the future of education.

Monday Guest Speaker Video Link and Bio

We asked him some questions about how our digital identity affects us, we learned that what we do in the internet is public, and someone might fing out what we did or said in the past. We also got some cool tips, not be whiny about everything, have passwords with good segurity even if this means we need to keep them written somewhere.

Ciberbullying was a subject that we touch, the stuff people publish on the internet may affect them in a positive or negative way, if for some reason you had something embarasing or negative posted , since there is no way to completely erase it from the internet, best you can do is overcome it and clarify things.
